In May Scan2CAD v7 was subject of a CADALYST Magazine "First Looks" review. Reviewer David Byrnes wrote:
"Most applications in this category offer a similar range of abilities. What sets programs apart is their ability to vectorize, and Scan2CAD v7 is a powerful contender here. As well as easy stuff such as lines and arcs, v7 can recognize and convert Bezier curves, hatch patterns and noncontinuous line types. It has most of the functionality of programs costing 10 times as much. V7 maintains the high standards of earlier releases. The documentation and support are first-rate. Pros: Powerful, affordable automatic raster to vector conversion. Cons: None significant."

Scan2CAD has interactive video tutorials that guide you through various Scan2CAD operations. The tutorials run on your PC and are fun to work through. We've just added a new video for font training.
If your raster images use a font that Scan2CAD's default text recognition cannot recognize or cannot recognize well, such as a handwritten font, an italic font or a font that is wider or narrower than normal, you can train the Pro version of Scan2CAD to recognize the font. The new video shows you how.
All the videos including the new font training video can be downloaded from here.
If there is an aspect of Scan2CAD that you would like us to create a video tutorial for, please email us.
Oops, this quick tip turned into a long tip too long to include in this newsletter, so we've added it to the Scan2CAD Hints and Tips pages.
In our February Newsletter, we wrote:
"To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be."
Andrew Rees wrote in to say not so:
"To the engineer the glass is correctly sized with the appropriate safety margin."
Since then our glass has attracted more comment -
Jack McAndrew:
"... and to the Architect, the glass is aesthetically pleasing, but when full it exceeds the footprint by allowable zoning codes, and when empty, its design is so complicated it costs too much to build."
Chris Cooper (Ex Diver):
"To me the glass is full; half by liquid and half by vital spare capacity.
"NB. Spare capacity is vital for the acceptance of further offerings of e.g. more alcohol and the prevention of spillage when circumstances are likely to cause disturbances to the surface (e.g. the roll of the ship or the lateness of the evening)."
Geoff Seaman:
"To the parent, the empty glass has the most potential."
Jack McAndrew again:
"An EMPTY GLASS is the best of all ... you get to find the keg and start over again."
Thanks everybody for your responses!
"I have not found any other product that exceeds yours in terms of utility and reliability ... it works as advertised which is rare for this kind of product."
M. Kroeker
"Scan2CAD v7 is very impressive, producing outstanding results from the many scanned images converted so far. It compares very well to other packages I've looked at, some costing up to £3000."
C. Pickering
